Ethel Cardew is a lady, maybe a lady, who is frequently mentioned in conversation by Richie and Eddie. We are lead to believe that Richie has tried to score with her, unsuccessfully, including on one occasion by pretending to be a ship’s Captain. Seems that on that occassion Ethel got off with the arresting officer instead. The ever delusional Richie tells Eddie she was his fiancée, but it seems she prefered Eddie, who shagged her (on the Christmas Club coach trip to Bruges.) After the ‘superglue incident’ Eddie is no longer speaking to Ethel, but then she isn’t really speaking to anyone lately
